OKEx Asia: OKEx Asia set into motion their annual Satoshi Month event with a panel discussion alongside the industry pioneers and crypto shiftmakers.
Amongst the esteemed panelists were Netero (Asia CEO, OKEx) Adam De Cata (Partnerships Lead at Decentraland), Edul Patel (CEO, Mudrex), John Sedano and Fallen Corpsez (Community lead and Developer from Yield Guild Games), Vincent Zhang (Director from OKEx Blockdream Ventures) and the session was moderated by Miss OKEx
The Metaverse led discussion brought in interesting perspectives about where the crypto and blockchain industry is headed at large.
“Besides Gamefi communities, original crypto enthusiasts will definitely be the first wave of traffic in the Metaverse realm”, Netero, OKEx Asia CEO stated.
The current situation of metaverse with WEB 1.0 is similar to that of 1998. At that time, the boom of the Internet concept became widespread and triggered people outside the tech circle to take a glance. Early adopters became the first generation users of the Internet.
The Metaverse segment may just be the next stage of internet as we see a pump in various metaverse based crypto token prices in recent years with more and more people demonstrating interest in the concept.
Commenting on the investment strategy, OKEx Blockdream Ventures mentioned, “We call it “feed high quality projects with high quality traffic”.We will use our traffic globally to help entrepreneurs grow their project. Current Metaverse is like the Internet in 1998. There are bubbles, but we believe everything will be step-by-step and we believe in perceiving it as an opportunity instead of a hurdle.”
While projects like YGG emphasised on the importance of community and creator based growth, Decentraland had a similar take on the Metaverse concept. Adam De Cata from Decentraland, a virtual social platform stated, “We are experimenting with tech on an ongoing basis. On the community and growth side, we recently launched a Metaverse festival where guests including major pop artists and Paris Hilton amongst others joined us for a 4-day virtual event. We want to inspire communities to push forward.
It was a record breaking event; for both artists who are new to Metaverse and everyone who was new to Decentraland likewise.”
When quizzed about Facebook’s recent venture into the Metaverse segment with their bold rebranding endeavor to “Meta”, the panel had a similar voice about large companies bringing crypto to the mainstream.
Edul Patel, CEO of Mudrex, recounted the importance and heavy weightage that exchanges and digital currencies alike will play in the Metaverse realm. He furthermore stated that this shift will be even more prominent as real life is soon going to be overlapping with virtual reality.
Concluding the annual Satoshi Month event, Netero stated, “As we are proceeding towards the next industrial revolution and contrary to the previous IR 4.0, communities and infrastructure will both be an important element. We hope with our Satoshi Month awareness event, we can educate and bring to the masses the limitless possibilities of the blockchain revolution.”
