94 Seats Up For Polls In Bihar, By-Elections In Ten States
Nation Now TV November 03, 2020
New Delhi: Ninety-four of Bihar’s 243 seats are up for election today in the second phase of the assembly polls in the middle of a bitter campaign, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spearheading the NDA attack with a series of rallies. The key candidates include Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the alliance of Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Left parties and the Congress, whose massive rallies have drawn a direct barb from the Prime Minister. “Crown prince of Jungle Raj” was what PM Modi tagged him last week as the RJD leader’s rallies assumed mammoth proportions. By-elections for 54 assembly seats across 10 states are also being held today.
The election is being held amid tough campaigning by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the de-facto face of the NDA, even though Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is the official candidate. PM Modi has so far held 10 rallies in the state, there are two more to go. The BJP has made the switch believing that PM Modi’s popularity, unlike that of Nitish Kumar, is intact.
Tejashwi Yadav’s elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav has shifted base from Mahua in Vaishali and is trying his luck from Hasanpur in Samastipur district. The shift was linked to his marital discord with Aishwarya Rai. His estranged wife and father-in-law Chandrika Rai have been campaigning against the RJD candidate from the nearby Parsa seat.
