Hariyali Teej – Significance, Date & Puja Timings in 2020

Hariyali Teej is celebrated in the month of Shravan in Hindu calendar.

It is an auspicious occasion for the Hindu married ladies who celebrate this festival for the good will of their husbands. It is basically celebrated to seek marital bliss from Hindu deities. It is also known as chhoti Teej.

As greenery is full in its charm during the month of Shravan, so this Teej is named after the hariyali(greenery) of the surrounding nature. Even unmarried ladies also celebrate this festival to seek blessings from God and for good future husband.

All the married ladies adorn themselves with the solah shringar i.e. heena, vermillion mark, bangles, toe rings, anklets, colourful sarees and dresses. etc in or to worship the Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to seek blessings from them for a blissful marriage.
