Nation Now TV July 21, 2020
As we all know COVID-19 has impacted every single business and hampered the events, exhibitions etc. The way we organise weddings has completely changed in this scenario. Some were planning to get hitched and some were planning to get engaged, and then everything went on hold. When it comes to India, we are known for big fat Indian weddings. The huge sums of money spent on Indian weddings creates employment for millions of professionals and small business owners. Here are some of the emerging trends of Indian weddings during pandemic.
Wedding Locations
The wedding locations earlier preferred were big grand locations centrally air conditioned with lots of staff at your service to serve you with lots with drinks and cuisines of every state.
Now the large, airy and open locations would be preferred for the weddings. The sanitisation of the venues along with sanitising fans and temperature detection at entry doors of venues would be mandatory. Well-spaced seating arrangement with proper availability of sanitizers and masks for the guests would be the top priority for both the host and the guests.
In case of closed venue, one has to make sure there is proper spaced out seating for the guests in order to avoid the crowd and maintain social distancing. A special screening zone or tunnel can also be created on the venue so that every person can get properly scanned before entering the venue.
Wedding locations has also been changed to home. As the number of guests has been reduced people are opting for less hustle in the weddings and trying to opt for their own homes and turn it into the wedding locations. There also a preparation of screening people and proper use of mask and sanitizers should be one of the concerned factors.
Décor
The wedding decorations have gone to minimal decorations and DIY’s these days. The people are choosing subtle themes and flower arrangements for the wedding couples also. The weddings are happening in daylight and so not much lightings are required in open and airy locations. At home weddings also people are giving more importance to DIY’s. The draperies are being made with old bedsheets, sarees, and dupattas, Followed by beautiful flower deco and lightnings add a glamour touch to the DIY’s decorations. And yes they are budget saving too.
Food
The food menu has undergone a whole new transformation. The food items on meanu are ones cooked at high temperature to nullify the virus risk. You will not find any guests sharing food with each other due to the risk of infection.
Apparel/ make up / jewellery
When it comes to apparel and jewellery we always imagine a beautiful bride with beautiful smile on her face. But now with mask on a bride’s face what other things will be considered more important. Here’s the list-
Make-up- As the face of the bride would be covered in mask, the highlighting part of her makeup will be the Eyes.
Jewellery- After the make up the second highlighting part of the bride would be jewellery, so heavy jewellery and new innovative jewelleries would be preferred for grand weddings.
The make-up staff would have to wear PPE kit and use mask and sanitizer as they would be in close contact with the bride.
In case of home weddings, brides are preferring minimal make up and jewellery look as they are getting ready by themselves or by their relatives or friends.
